I am going to drop some surprising news on you. Maybe not that surprising, but change takes time. Anything worthwhile takes time!
Nothing great happens overnight. It may look like it to some people who say, “Oh my gosh, where did he come from? He’s now on a speaking tour.” But success does not happen right away; rather, it is a long run. If you are willing to put in the work, it will work in the end, but you must be willing to put in the work!
There are going to be times when you ask yourself, “Is this worth it?” That is when you must make sure that you are doing it for the right reason. You must make sure that your values and beliefs align with what you are doing. Because if you believe in yourself and you work hard, the results will come—but nothing changes overnight.
You do not go from a C student to an A student overnight. You go from a C to a B to an A, but you do the work. It may not happen on your next test or your next writing assignment because you must make those adjustments. It is all part of the process!
People aren’t suddenly going to just pick up the phone and say, “Hey, come see me. Come work with me.” It is a process. I know sometimes it’s deflating when you don’t see the results right away, but when you finally see them—wow!
This reminds me of the stonecutter who hammered that rock one hundred times, and then on the 101st time, the rock cracked. But it wasn’t because of that 101st strike alone. It was the 100 that came before it, because he put in the work. He knew it was a long run.
Allow me to tell you a little secret: if you are aware that things are a long process, it makes things easier to accept, easier to know that success won’t happen the first time.
You are going to fail! I repeat, you are going to fall! It does not matter if you fail or fall. What matters is you get back up and you keep going! Because if you keep going, nothing is going to stop you.
Just keep going! Keep pushing forward! Realize that greatness is not a one-day thing. It is a lifetime commitment to become great.
So do not quit after one day. Go out there, be different, and BE GREAT!!!
